In general, a "Check" Bugle is any bugle that starts, stops short somewhere mid-bugle, and either ends there, or restarts again somewhere in the middle
to end of the bugle, so that the entire vocalization ends up sounding "broken" rather than smooth and continuous. In essence, the bull "checks" himself in
the process of bugling. It's not unlike what we do when we start to say something, stop, rethink what we're about to say, and then either decide against
continuing on with what we were going to say, or rephrase whatever it was we were about to say.
The "meaning" of a Check Bugle depends upon the original bugle the bull intended to vocalize, but in this case, the bull "second guesses" himself.
