A vocalization used by elk to express their feeling, attitude, or aggravation about a particular situation; often used by cows being harassed by younger bulls.
Starts high-pitched and gradually falls in pitch slightly in an inconsistent and often wavy manner, but ends slightly lower in pitch and raspy. It is best done
with an open reed style call by decreasing lip pressure/opening your mouth slightly to achieve the WHA sound at the end of the vocalization. Usually 1 to 2
seconds in length.
